The 5 UFO Sightings That Will Make You Shiver
Almost everyone has wondered at some point when they look up at the night sky: could there really be extraterrestrial life? Scientists have neither confirmed nor denied the truth of this over the years, and in the absence of a definite answer, there’s been tons of speculation over the years. This has been fuelled by the rumors of a government UFO, as well as many mysterious UFO sightings all over the world. Here’s some of the wildest UFO sightings out there.
1) The Navy’s Pyramid UFO
As one of the most recent UFO sightings released via Pentagon news, this one has stirred up tons of discussion. Taken by Navy personnel in 2019, this footage shows a blinking, pyramid-shaped floating object. Neither the Navy nor the Pentagon could explain what it was. As well as this, photos emerged from the Pentagon at the same time of a sphere-shaped object, an object resembling an acorn and a so-called ‘metallic blimp’. Former intelligence director John Ratcliffe even admits that “there are a lot more sightings than have been made public”. The strangest thing of all is that Pentagon news has admitted that they have no idea what the sightings actually are.
2) The Lights Above the New Jersey Turnpike
Drivers on the New Jersey turnpike one dark night in 2001 were stunned to see something truly bizarre in the sky. Just after midnight for fifteen minutes, orange-and-yellow lines formed in a V across the sky. There was no clear source for any of the lights. When air traffic controllers were asked about the lights, they said that no airplanes, military jets or space flights had caused the lights. But a group named the New York Strange Phenomena Investigators found strange radar data that had occurred at the same time as the lights appearing.
3) O’Hare International Airport Saucer
Back in 2006, this UFO needed no Pentagon news to get out to the general public. Flight 446 was about to fly to North Carolina from the Chicago O’Hare International Airport when an employee stopped them. A dark grey metallic craft was hovering over gate C17. There, at 4:15 p.m, almost fifteen witnesses gathered to watch the bizarre craft. The craft hovered there for five minutes more, then shot upwards into the sky. Witnesses stated it broke a hole in the clouds so large that the blue sky above them could be clearly seen. While the FAA ultimately dismissed it as a “weather phenomenon”, it quickly became the most read story ever on the Chicago Tribune’s website, reaching international prominence.
4) The USS Nimitz Encounter
When an unknown craft appeared on radar off the San Diego coastline, the people who spotted it had no idea what they were getting themselves into. The crew of the USS Princeton, one of the USS Nimitz’s crafts, had been assigned to track strange objects suddenly appearing at 80,000 feet and crashing into the ocean. Actual UFO footage had not yet been found at the site, but that was about to change. What the crew found at the site where they picked up the radar signal was incredible. A white, Tic-Tac shaped object appeared above the water once the crew arrived. There were no visible markings on it that indicated windows, wings or an engine. When the crew scanned it with infrared monitors, no exhaust appeared on the scan either. They then attempted to intercept the craft, but to no avail. The object moved sixty miles away according to radar scans. At three times the speed of sound and twice the speed of the fighter jets, this was clearly no ordinary craft they’d found.
5) The Stephenville Sightings
Stephenville, Texas usually isn’t known for anything except its farms. But one early January evening in 2008, its citizens witnessed something utterly unique. White lights appeared above Highway 67. First appearing in a single horizontal arc, they continued across the sky in a number of vertical parallel lines. Travelling at about 3000 miles per hour, and at a mile and a half wide, there was no earthly explanation any of the witnesses could come up with for them. According the government, UFOs were not responsible for this, as they claimed that the lights were F-16 aircraft flying in the Brownwood Military Operating Areas. However, many townspeople remained convinced that the lights seemed too technologically advanced to be human.
Even today, the mysteries of the stars are still unclear. The government says one thing, scientists say another and witnesses to these bizarre phenomena say a third. But what we can all agree on is that UFO sightings are fascinating. Whenever you hear about a new, unexplained sight in the sky, look up and bathe in how grandiose and weird our world can be.
