The 5 Romantic Movies You Need to See in 2021

We all love a good rom com. They’re funny, touching, and uplifting to watch, no matter how you’re feeling. But you probably want to know what’s new in the field of romantic movies. In the sea of romantic movies on Netflix, how do you know what’s good?

New-Releases-To-Watch-On-Netflix

That’s where we come in. We’ve scoured the internet to find out exactly which are the best love story movies on Netflix. Best of all, we’ve figured out what the best new releases are, and we’ve got them right here for you. Get your popcorn and tissues ready for these incredible new releases.

    1. To All The Boys: Always And Forever (February 12)

The much-anticipated final movie in the To All the Boys series is fresh on the scene in 2021. Lara Jean, played by Lana Condor, and Peter, played by Noah Centineo, have faced multiple hurdles throughout their relationship. But as their high school graduation creeps up on them, they have to deal with big changes, bigger prom dresses and the question of whether they can go to college together like they’ve always planned. The ‘will-they-won’t-they’ dynamic between Lara Jean and Peter has always made for compelling viewing, as has the genuine chemistry between the starring actors, and this installment is no different. If you’ve enjoyed either of the previous To All the Boys movies, this is a must-watch. Even if you’re new to the series, each installment presents laughter, tears and one compelling couple. This is one of those romantic movies on Netflix that’s unmissable.

    1. In The Heights (June 18)

If you’re a fan of Hamilton, musical theatre or romance, this summer movie is perfect for you. Set in the Latino New York neighborhood of Washington Heights, this musical-turned-movie follows three days in Usnavi’s life. We watch as he struggles for a better life and, of course, falls in love. Torn between Vanessa, a beauty salon worker, and his childhood friend Nina, he grapples with conflicts in love and in the changing world around him. There’s even a cameo from Lin-Manuel Miranda himself, starring as a street seller in a brief but fun scene. Written by the creator of Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda, the songs and the drama soar to incredible heights. A musical, particularly a musical filled with hip-hop lyrics, might not be the most conventional formula for romantic movies, but in this case, it works perfectly.

    1. The Kissing Booth 3 (Summer 2021)

This latest, best love story on Netflix is another one wrapping everything up. Like To All the Boys: Always and Forever, this is the much-anticipated last installment in a trilogy of romantic movies. Starring Joey King, Jacob Elori and Joel Courtney, this is finally going to answer the question of which boy Elle follows to college: Noah or Lee. As the last movie ended in a massive cliffhanger, this is going to be a huge movie for fan speculation and anticipation. As director Joey King says, “Elle has a lot of figuring out to do, and she figures out a lot during this movie”. While an exact release date hasn’t yet been announced, it’s been confirmed in Netflix’s teaser trailer that this is scheduled for summer 2021. If you want to finally find out what happens at the end of Elle’s story, this is the film for you.

    1. The Last Letter From Your Lover (March 2021)

If you like intrigue to go along with your romance, this is the movie for you. With Felicity Jones, Shailene Woodley and Callum Turner playing some of the main characters, the cast is star-studded and promising. The movie follows the story of a woman in the 1960s who has lost her memory. She then receives a letter from someone who claims to be her lover. In 2003, another woman discovers the mysterious letter and becomes obsessed with finding the unknown lover. Jumping between different points in time and keeping lots hidden from the audience, this is truly a standout movie among romantic movies. Don’t miss its premiere on Netflix, scheduled for March 12th, 2021.

  1. Love Hard ( Winter 2021)

Christmas romantic movies on Netflix don’t always have a great reputation. But this release, set for the winter of 2021, looks ideal for a cosy night in with a cup of hot chocolate. Starring Nina Dobrev, Jimmy O. Yang, and Darren Barnet, this movie follows a woman who goes to her online crush’s hometown, only to find that she’s been catfished. The catfisher, who pretended to be another guy in his hometown, offers to help her win the heart of the real guy – if she’ll pretend to be the catfisher’s girlfriend. This movie promises plenty of shenanigans and wholesome Christmas storytelling.

The Wrap Up

If you’re a fan of romantic movies on Netflix or off it, 2021 is going to be a treat for you. There are tons of romantic movies slated to be released this year. With the completion of beloved series as well as fresh new talent waiting to be watched, there’ll be no shortage of rom coms for you to watch this year.
